Shane Robison
Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board
Shane Robison has served as a director since December 2011 and as our Chief Executive Officer and Chairman since August 2013, and as our Chief Executive Officer, President and Chairman since May 2013. Mr. Robison served as chief strategy & technology officer and executive vice president of Hewlett-Packard Company from May 2002 to November 2011. From 2000 to May 2002, Mr. Robison served as senior vice president, technology and chief technology officer of strategy and technology of Compaq Computer Corporation. Prior to joining Compaq, Mr. Robison served as the president of Internet Technology and Development at AT&T Labs. Prior to AT&T Labs, Mr. Robison was Executive Vice president, research and development, and then served as president of the Design Productivity Group at Cadence Design Systems. Mr. Robison also spent seven years at Apple Inc., where he held a series of executive-level positions, leaving the company as vice president and general manager of the Personal Interactive Electronics Division. Mr. Robison’s experience includes work at Schlumberger’s research groups in Silicon Valley, at Evans & Sutherland Computer Corporation and consulting for the University of Utah in the area of database systems architecture. Mr. Robison serves on the board of directors of Altera Corporation. Mr. Robison holds a B.S. and a M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Utah.
Lance L. Smith
Chief Operating Officer and President
Lance L. Smith has served as our President and Chief Operating Officer since August 2013, as our Chief Operating Officer since April 2010, as our Executive Vice President since October 2010, as our Senior Vice President of Engineering from September 2009 to October 2010, and as our Senior Vice President of Product Management and Marketing from May 2008 to September 2009. From January 2003 to May 2008, Mr. Smith served as vice president and general manager of RMI Corporation, a semiconductor company. From 2000 to 2002, Mr. Smith served as senior vice president, business development of Raza Foundries, Inc., a broadband networking and communications investment company, and served in various interim executive roles at Pacific Broadband Communications, Inc., Acirro, Inc. and Omnishift Technologies Inc. He also served as the director of commercial segment marketing and director of technical marketing for the computational products group of Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., the x86 microprocessor and video card maker, and had management roles at technology companies NexGen, Inc. and Chips and Technologies, Inc. Mr. Smith holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University.
Ted A. Hull
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Ted A. Hull has served as our Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President since December 2013. Mr. Hull served as vice president, finance at Cisco Systems, Inc., a provider of networking equipment and related products, from December 2007 to September 2013. From 2004 to 2007, Mr. Hull served as chief financial officer of Isola Group Ltd., a material sciences company, and from 2001 to 2004, Mr. Hull served as chief financial officer and vice president, finance at Maxtor Corporation, a manufacturer of computer hard disk drives. Mr. Hull previously served in various finance roles at Exodus Communications Inc. and International Business Machines Corporation, or IBM, including as the Storage Systems Division Controller at IBM. Mr. Hull holds a B.A. from Binghamton University and an M.B.A. from Florida Atlantic University Directors.
Keith J. Brown
Chief Information Officer
Keith J. Brown joined Fusion-io in June 2013 as Chief Information Officer. He previously was the Vice President of Enterprise Applications and Architecture at Aflac. Prior to Aflac, he was the Vice President of Enterprise Systems at Amgen. Mr. Brown also served as the CIO of DSM Pharmaceuticals. His Information Technology experience has focused on the development and operations of global ERP, enterprise analytics, manufacturing automation, web services, and content management platforms. Mr. Brown holds a B.S. in Computer Science from North Carolina State University.
Michael Mendenhall
Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer
Michael Mendenhall has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer since May 2014. Previously, Mr. Mendenhall served as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Hewlett Packard, where he directed all aspects of corporate marketing operations globally. His organization oversaw brand strategy, internal and external communications, digital strategy, global citizenship, integrated design, customer intelligence, services and operations, and hp.com. Before HP, Mr. Mendenhall spent 17 years at the Walt Disney Company, culminating in his positions as President of Marketing and Synergy for Walt Disney Studios and EVP of Global Marketing for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, a $10 billion business spanning North America, Europe, and Asia. His areas of responsibility included global brand image, publicity, advertising, new media, interactive TV, special events and promotions, as well as operations and customer managed activities. Mr. Mendenhall has been a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Marketing and Branding, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the CMO Inner Circle, the senior advisory board of the Executive Marketing Council, the CMO Club and the Marketing 50. He holds a bachelor‘s degree from Emerson College and now serves on its Board of Overseers.
Gary J. Smerdon
Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy and Product Officer
Gary J. Smerdon has served as our Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President since October 2013. Mr. Smerdon served as senior vice president and general manager of the Accelerated Solutions Division at LSI Corporation, a semiconductors and software company that develops storage and networking products, or LSI, from February 2012 to September 2013, and as vice president and general manager of the Accelerated Solutions Division at LSI from April 2011 to February 2012. Mr. Smerdon served as vice president and head of corporate strategy at LSI from March 2010 to April 2011, and as vice president, business development at LSI from October 2007 to March 2010. From 2006 to October 2007, Mr. Smerdon served as chief marketing officer of Tarari Inc., a developer of packet inspection and content processing solutions for networking and servers, and from 2003 to 2005, Mr. Smerdon served as president and chief executive officer of Greenfield Networks Inc., a developer of Ethernet switch technology solutions. Mr. Smerdon previously served in various leadership roles at Marvell Technology Group, RealChip and Advanced Micro Devices. Mr. Smerdon holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Duke University.
Daniel E.  Stevenson
Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary
Daniel E. Stevenson has served as our General Counsel and Secretary since February 2014, and as our Associate General Counsel and Vice President from June 2010 to February 2014. Prior to joining Fusion-io, Mr. Stevenson served as General Counsel, Senior Vice President and Secretary of a privately held, venture-backed company. Mr. Stevenson was a corporate and technology transactions attorney at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P.C. before becoming an in-house advisor. Mr. Stevenson holds a B.A. in Spanish and a J.D. from Brigham Young University.
Ian E. Whiting
Executive Vice President, Global Field Operations
Ian E. Whiting has served as our Executive Vice President, Global Field Operations since December 2013. Prior to joining Fusion-io, from September 2012 to November 2013, Mr. Whiting served as senior vice president, sales, Americas at Riverbed Technology, Inc. a company that specializes in performance solutions for wide area networks. Mr. Whiting served as senior vice president, worldwide sales at Brocade Communications Systems, Inc., a company specializing in data and storage networking products, from 2008 to 2012, and as vice president and general manager of Data Center Infrastructure at Brocade from 2007 to 2008. From 2005 to 2007, Mr. Whiting served as vice president, worldwide sales and marketing at Brocade, and from 2001 to 2005, he served as vice president, sales, EMEA and Latin America at Brocade. Mr. Whiting previously served in various sales roles at Compaq Computer Corp., NetWorth Inc. and Data Translation Networking. Mr. Whiting holds a B.A. from University Swansea and a Masters degree in European Business Studies from Cranfield University.
David A. Windley
Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer
David A. Windley has served as our Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer since October 2013. Mr. Windley also serves as a board director of the Society of Human Resources Management, a professional human resources association since January 2013. Mr. Windley previously served as executive vice president, chief human resources officer at Yahoo! from March 2008 to September 2012, and as vice president, human resources at Yahoo! from December 2006 to February 2008. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Windley served as general manager of human resources at Microsoft Corporation, supporting Microsoft’s chief operating officer. From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Windley served as a vice president, human resources at Intuit Inc., and from 1991 to 2001, Mr. Windley held various HR roles at Silicon Graphics, Inc., including vice president of human resources. Mr. Windley holds a B.S. in Business Administration from San Diego State University and an M.B.A. from San Francisco State University.
Stephen G. Wozniak
Chief Scientist
Stephen G. Wozniak has served as our Chief Scientist since December 2008. From 1971 to 1976, Mr. Wozniak held engineering positions within HP. In 1976, Mr. Wozniak co-founded Apple Computer, Inc., now Apple Inc. In 1985, Mr. Wozniak was awarded the National Medal of Technology, for his role in the development and introduction of the personal computer. After leaving Apple in 1985, Mr. Wozniak was involved in various business and philanthropic ventures, focusing primarily on computer capabilities in schools, stressing hands-on learning and encouraging creativity for students. In 2000, Mr. Wozniak was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame, and he was awarded the Heinz Award in Technology, the Economy and Employment. He also co-founded the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and was a founding sponsor of the Tech Museum, Silicon Valley Ballet and Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose. Mr. Wozniak holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley.
